Lake Adventure Tours

DAY 1..... 8:00am pick up from your hotel in Siem Reap, we depart and head west towards the isolated but interesting Mecchrey floating village, this is quite a unique and isolated floating village that moves in and out from the great lake as the water levels either receed or increase depanding on the time of year and the direction of the tonle sap river, the tonle sap river is the only river in the world to change its direction bi yearly as the mekong river and delta flood, causing the pushing of the water into the river and causing a huge inland lake, todays events include travel by car, than boat and than sampans we will be rowed through the flooded forest and floating villages by locals, lunch at a locals floating home, and than after lunch we head south to a large floating village of chong khneas this is about 2 hours boat ride, this is where we dock with the Tara Riverboat for our overnight stay,special sampan rowing tours of this large floating village a visit to the fish and croc farm,and a special sunset onboard the largest riverboat on the great lake, dinner and drinks all included.after dinner settle back and enjoy the sights and sound of night life in a floating village, get to know the locals, relax in a hammack, as the locals say its up to you. Explore the Tara Riverboat, learn its unique history, 80 years young and still going strong, orginanaly a cargo vessel plying the mekong rivers from vietnam up into cambodia, now lovely restored for you to enjoy, Tonights accomadation will proberly be a little more rustic than you would be used to.

Day 2.... Following breakfast, we say goodbye to chong khneas floating village and sail east, to the flooded forest and famous stilted homes of kompong phluk, the stilted homes tower some 9 mts into the air to accomadate the changes in seasonal water levels, we row through the flooded forest, and the main street of kompong phluk in the wet season or walk through in the dry season, after lunch on a floating restaurant we head north back into siem reap a few stops along the way mainly to visit the pergola and also the rolous group of temples
