The Rhythm of the River Week 10 on the Mekong and Tonlé Sap has been one of steady progress and exciting growth. As the season unfolds, the water continues to tell its own story, but here at Tara Boat Tours, we are busy writing a few new chapters of our own. It has been a week of welcoming fresh faces, celebrating our local heritage, and—most importantly—expanding how we connect the heart of Cambodia.
A New Queen on the Water
We are thrilled to officially announce the latest addition to our fleet for the Phnom Penh to Siem Reap Cruise and Land Tour. This new vessel has been purpose-built to navigate the unique seasonal shifts of the Tonlé Sap River with ease.
Designed with the same spirit of craftsmanship that defined our original 1927 steel-hulled flagship, this boat offers expansive open-air decking, comfortable lounging areas, and, of course, our signature 100% solar-powered systems. Whether you are enjoying a freshly prepared BBQ lunch or watching the riverbanks drift by, this new addition ensures that the journey between the capital and the temples of Angkor remains the most scenic and relaxing route in the Kingdom.
VIP Luxury on the Road
Our commitment to providing a seamless experience doesn’t end at the dock. This week, we officially took delivery of our new 2026 SUV fleet, specifically dedicated to our VIP Luxury Transport services.
These top-of-the-line vehicles are now integrated into our “Cruise and Land” packages, offering a smooth, climate-controlled transition for the overland portions of your journey. With professional drivers who know every bend in the road and interiors designed for ultimate comfort, our guests can now enjoy a true door-to-door luxury experience from their hotel in Phnom Penh to their stay in Siem Reap.
Community & Sustainability
Beyond the new hardware, the heart of our mission remains our people. Our team of 67 local staff members—who we truly consider family—have been working hard to ensure every guest feels that famous Cambodian hospitality. We are also continuing our recycling initiatives, turning old materials into functional art and furniture for our vessels, keeping our footprint small and our impact on the local community large.
Captain’s Reflection: > “As we look out over the ‘Four Faces’ river junction this evening, it’s a reminder that while the boats and cars get newer, the magic of the river stays the same. We’re just here to make sure you see it in the best way possible.”
Fair winds and following seas,
The Tara Boat Tours Team ⚓
