Hammack for our guests at sunset cruise
Our comfortable boat is the largest on the Tonle Sap lake so room for everyone to relax .
Vessel: Tara Riverboat Fleet
Location: Tonle Sap Lake, Mekong River Cambodia
Lake Conditions & Environment
The Tonle Sap continues to show its remarkable character this week. Water levels are currently holding steady at 1.8 meters, which remains notably above the long-term average for this point in the dry season. This extra depth is a welcome sight for our navigation, ensuring smooth passage across the lake’s heart.
The weather has been spectacular—fine conditions and clear blue skies have dominated the horizon all week. It’s perfect for photography and enjoying the breeze on the top deck, with the sun setting beautifully over the water each evening.
Tourism & Global Climate
We have noticed a quieter lake recently, with fewer tourists visiting the region. This shift is largely driven by the current global situation, specifically the significant increase in international airfares and the logistical challenges of flights being redirected around the Middle East. While the world navigates these complexities, we remain a peaceful sanctuary for those who do make the journey.
Operations & Commitment
The rising global tensions have brought practical challenges to our doorstep. Our running costs have increased by 30% due to the sharp spike in fuel prices affecting all transport in Cambodia.
Despite these pressures, we are standing firm in our commitment to our guests: all our tour prices remain the same. We believe in providing value and stability, especially when things feel uncertain elsewhere. We are incredibly grateful to those continuing to support local tourism and our staff during this time.
Closing Thoughts
As we watch the sun dip below the flooded forest, our thoughts are with the global community. We pray for peace in the Middle East and worldwide, hoping for a future where travel and connection are once again easy for everyone.
Safe travels and calm waters, The Tara Riverboat Team
