Two-Village Floating & Stilted Village Exploration Tour

Experience two completely different ways of life on the Tonlé Sap—Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake—by exploring both a true floating village and the iconic stilted village of Kompong Phluk with its famous flooded forest. With our unique flat-hauled traditional riverboats, you’ll enter areas no other operators can reach.
Itinerary
9:50 AM – Hotel Pick-Up
Your professional Tara guide meets you in the reception area of your hotel or guesthouse. Depart in an air-conditioned vehicle or tuk tuk towards the Tonlé Sap.
10:10 AM – Lotus Flower Farms Stop
A brief photo stop at the lotus farms — a flower deeply significant in Buddhism.
(Views vary seasonally with lotus and rice field cycles.)
10:30 AM – Arrive at the Port & Board Your Long-Tail Boat
Board one of our private, traditional long-tail boats and cruise smoothly into the first floating village, a community built entirely on water.
11:30 AM – Dock with the Queen Tara (Mother Ship)

12:30 PM – Lake Crossing to Kompong Phluk
Re-board your long-tail boat and cross the vast Tonlé Sap Lake toward the second village, Kompong Phluk—famous for its towering stilt houses and seasonal flooded forest.
1:15 PM – Explore the Flooded Forest & Kompong Phluk Village
Depending on water levels:

High water: Enjoy a serene rowboat experience through the flooded forest.

Low water: Walk among the forest floor and stilt structures.
Then stroll the main village street and visit the local pergola and monks’ training school for cultural insight into daily life.
2:30 PM – Cruise Down the Kompong Phluk River
Continue east along the river past additional stilt villages, fish markets, and river life. Kompong Phluk is a bustling fishing community—perfect for photography and authentic local scenes.
3:00 PM – Depart by Air-Conditioned Car/Van or Tuk Tuk
Disembark and relax on a comfortable drive back toward Siem Reap.
4:00 PM – Arrival Back at Your Hotel
