When we first looked at the Queen Tara nearly two decades ago, we knew that to provide the best experience for our guests, we needed more than just a boat—we needed a harmonious way to travel through our waterways. While the industry was relying heavily on noisy, fume-heavy diesel generators, we took a leap of faith into the future.
Eighteen years ago, we made the commitment to switch to solar power.
It wasn’t just about the technology; it was about the experience. By integrating solar energy into the Queen Tara, we swapped the constant, grating roar of generators for the peaceful, natural sounds of the lake. We realized that our guests didn’t want to shout over an engine to hear about the ecosystem; they wanted to immerse themselves in it.
Reliability Meets Responsibility
Our transition to solar wasn’t a trend; it was a long-term investment in our commitment to the environment and our local community. Today, our system is more robust than ever.
We currently operate a high-capacity solar array featuring 10 powerful solar panels that soak up the tropical sun, feeding into a sophisticated storage bank of 5 lithium-ion batteries, each rated at 200Ah. This setup provides us with a clean, consistent, and silent power supply that runs our lighting, onboard electronics, and amenities throughout the day and well into the evening.
When you join us on the Queen Tara, you aren’t just taking a tour—you’re participating in a legacy of sustainable exploration. We’ve been keeping our footprint light for 18 years, and we invite you to join us on the water to see, hear, and feel the difference.
