Kompong Phluk Flooded Forest and 2 Villages Full Day Adventure in Siem Reap ( $ 88 per person)(Children 10 years and under are half priced)5yo and under free
Exploring 2 very different floating villages and fishing villages is a great way to experience and get a better understanding of how the villages work on the greatest fresh water lake in S.E Asia, the Tonle Sap lake, the first village is a true floating village whereas the second village (Kompong Phluk or Kampong Phluk) is home mainly to stilted homes and the famous flooded forest, this tour also includes the crossing of the Tonle Sap lake so we are able to explore more than just the different villages.( the only way to do these 2 villages is via the Tara riverboat tours) We have the unique flat hauled traditional riverboats, which means we can enter into areas no other boats can.
We depart from your hotel just before 10am (our guide will meet you in the foyer/reception area of your hotel or guesthouse) and head to the first floating village, sights that are worth a quick stop along the way are the lotus flower farms, a flower that is deeply important in Buddhism (please note: Depending on the time of year the views of the lotus and rice fields will vary.) Once we are at the port area one of our boats traditional long tails will be waiting to take you on a pleasant cruise into the floating villages.
We then dock with our mother-ship the Queen Tara, lunch and comfort stop (Vegetarian options available) and drinks (free)on board the Queen Tara and then back onto the long tail traditional boats for the lake crossing and into the 2nd village of Kompong Phluk, depending on the time of year and the current water levels we will either row through(or if the water levels are low we walk through the treetop canopy walkway), a walk along the main street of Kompong Phluk and visit to the local pergola and the monks training school.( Please note all our boats are fitting with toilets for your comfort)
As we own all our boats, our guests will enjoy exploring the numerous rivers, lakes and water ways in a private and relaxed setting. (No Waiting in lines to fill up public boats as other operators have to do). saving you both time and money.
Heading further east along the Kompong Phluk river we pass many more villages and fish markets, (Kompong Phluk is mainly a fishing village). Once we exit the river we arrive to our car or mini-Van for a comfortable air-conditioned trip back into town and back to your hotel. start time just before 10am and back by 4.30pm.
Did you know the Tonle Sap Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia? also one of the richest fishing lakes in the world? Home to many rare and endangered large water birds and very rare and endangered Siamese Crocodiles.
